So I’m trying to figure out what to do with this blog. On the one hand I’d love to have everyone reading it. On the other hand I want to have the freedom to say what I want without alienating people. For example, were I to freely make comments critical of the SBC I might annoy friends from seminary. You get the drift. SO… I do not intend to make personal comments about people I know, so I hope nobody takes anything personal.
Of course, the issue of “what to do” has come up a great deal lately along more deep and significant lines. Having begun work on a PhD in Christian Apologetics and Worldview last semester, I quickly found myself racked with uncertainty. Do I really want to get a PhD? Increasingly I find that I have little desire to continue. The scholarly life has little appeal for me…. I want to get out there in the real world. SO, hence the question what to do. Ministry? Something “secular?” (Perhaps I’ll write sometime on why I hate thinking of such distinctions as secular vs sacred. False dichotomy). Or plow on through? These questions often come up in conversation and in pryer (though probably not as often in prayer as they should!).
Suffice to say that as I begin this blog we stand at a crossroads. These will be interesting months.
