Saw a headline that said, “Fourteen Pound Baby Girl Born in Kentucky.” Yikes. So don’t worry, we’re having a boy who will hopefully not be fourteen pounds for a while.

I looked all over the place for an on-line version of an article in the Greenville Journal (a weekly paper not to be confused with the daily paper – the Greenville News) so I could link to an article about the Earle family. The Earles have adopted as a pet a two-year old beaver that was evidently orphaned at a very early age. The beaver is called Charlene Earle. Of course that’s funny enough for me, but the article had more. Charlene is living the high life with nightly bubble baths and lotion for her paws, an evening snack consisting of Oreos, and sleeping with the Earles. According to Mrs. Earle, she and Charlene snuggle each morning until nine. I’m not making this up. In spite of her pampered life, however, Charlene cannot escape her genes. The Earles can tell when a front is coming through and the weather is changing because Charlene begins taking stuff from around the house and begins building dams around each doorway. She has emptied bookshelves and once even managed to move a chair.
I wish you could read the article (and see the pictures – a beaver in a hat?) but, alas, the Greenville Journal does not post their content online.
