* Today is my tenth day of work in a row and I’m increasingly aware of the wisdom of the Sabbath. A day off is of great benefit in every way. After returning from vacation I worked every day last week and this week through tomorrow. I like my new job well enough, but I need a break! Fortunately I have the weekend off because my parents are coming to town.
* Of course, it will be a working visit when my parents get here. We’ll be trying to get the house ready for the baby’s impending arrival – painting the nursery, putting the crib together, that kind of stuff.
* Last night I went with a group of guys to see the Braves play the Reds. We had a great time watching the Braves pummel the home team 12-2. Because the game was so lopsided we got to see most of the players on the team. Rookie Brian McCann hit a home run, and his roommate and future (current?) superstar Jeff Francouer (Parkview High) had a couple of hits. Chipper Jones homered but left with an injury later that inning. We also saw the debut of recently acquired reliever Kyle Farnesworth, who touched 99 mph on a couple of pitches.
* Go over and congratulate Nikki Tatom on her engagement. Then, read where it all began. Funny story with a happy ending.
