When visiting teams walk into their locker room at the University of Iowa’s Kinnick Stadium, they may wonder if they’ve stepped into a fifth-grade girl’s bedroom. From floor to ceiling the recently redesigned locker room is pink. Pink walls and celing. Pink speckled carpet. Pink lockers. Even pink sinks and urinals. Well, technically, it’s all “Dusty Rose.” Nonetheless, it’s got a lot more to do with Barbie than football. Legendary coach Hayden Frye first painted the walls pink in the 1970s in an attempt to play pop psychology. The university decided to go all the way this time.
