Now that the Braves have had their traditional postseason collapse, I’ve decided to pull for the team that dispatched them – the Houston Astros. Tim Ellsworth is a sports columnist for Baptist Press (yeah they actually have a sports section, a fact I discovered through Tim’s blog – and Tim is a good writer).
Here’s a story written during spring training about Louisville native Chris Burke, the unexpected hero whose 18th inning home run finally (and I mean, finally – that was a long game) finished off the Braves. Here’s another interesting column Tim wrote about the Astros, who apparently have a fair number of believers on the roster. Beyond that, Craig Biggio and Jeff Bagwell are great, gritty players who have played in Houston forever and really deserve a ring. And, hey, the Astros have never won a World Series – I don’t know if they’ve ever even made it that far. So, for what its worth, count me in.
