When we lived in Boston we had several opportunities to watch the Red Sox play at historic Fenway Park, and we had a blast. There’s no place like it. Well, it turns out that the new minor league team in Greenville SC (Keri’s hometown) is the class A affiliate of the Red Sox, now called the Greenville Drive. The Drive moved to Greenville last year after the Braves AA affiliate moved to Mississippi, and part of the deal was that the club was going to build a new stadium downtown, anchoring the revitalization of the south end of Main St. (the renaissance underway downtown in the last decade has been remarkable).
Anyway, the cool thing is that the new ballpark, opening next month, will resemble Fenway Park, complete with a Green Monster of its own. Keri and I really enjoy minor league baseball and look forward to plenty of enjoyable summer nights at Fenway South (I don’t know the actual name of the park.) Here are a couple of pictures of the stadium.
