Last night we went with some friends (Ryan & Chase) to see the Reds play the Astros up in Cincinnati. We had fun but man did we get wet. We sat through a couple rain delays. We saw Adam Dunn drill a home run. In the 7th inning (or6th?) the Reds had a 2-1 lead but the Astros had a guy on 2nd. Then it suddenly started raining again. The Reds pitcher threw one more pitch, which Bagwell hit for a single scoring the tying run. After a while the rain let up but they didn’t move the tarp. They knew something we didn’t. They announced at 10:45 or so that the game had been suspended. So while that last run was bad for the Reds (couldn’t just call the game and have the win), it was good for us because we can exchange our tickets for another game and go free.
Literally the moment we stepped out of the stadium the heavens opened up and ridiculous rain began falling. It was like a monsoon as we trekked back to the car. We were soaked to the bone. We stopped at a Biggs store where the girls bought cheap pants to change into to dry off. We didn’t get home until 1 or a bit after. Didn’t help that I had to work this morning.
But it was fun. I’ve decided that the Reds are my #3 team (behind the Braves and Red Sox of course). They’re a likable team – it’s actually the first time (out of 3) that I’ve rooted for them at a game – the other times I’ve been they were playing the Braves. Every time I’ve been has been a rainy day too. Better luck next time. They’re new stadium, Great American Ballpark, is really really nice by the way.
